What is ZenLeaf?
ZenLeaf by Desert Harvest, written as one word to distinguish it from other similarly named brands, is a hemp-derived botanical supplement. Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant grown for its fibre, seeds and extracts. This is a description of what the product is, not a health or wellbeing claim.
I Europeiska unionen behandlas hampautdrag som är avsedda för användning i livsmedel och kosttillskott som nya livsmedel enligt förordning (EU) 2015/2283. Detta innebär att de kräver en säkerhetsbedömning av Europeiska myndigheten för livsmedelssäkerhet (EFSA) och EU-godkännande innan de får säljas. Ett sådant godkännande finns ännu inte, så ZenLeaf är inte tillgängligt inom EU.
Situationen skiljer sig mellan länder: Storbritannien driver sin egen offentliga lista via Food Standards Agency (FSA), som är separat från EU-processen.
