I have suffered with IC for over 12 years. I was prescribed Elmiron, which worked okay for me! I had no side effects and it took the edge off of the pain. When we switched insurance companies, it was no longer covered. My out-of-pocket cost would have been $3k for a 90-day supply! I wasn’t sure if I should write a review as I don’t have diagnosed IC. But I feel quite positive I have a mild/ moderate case. Most of the time, my bladder and urethra feel irritated and when I have a flare-up I get this agonizing urge that I have to use the toilet immediately and the pain is unbearable. If I have a sip of red wine, one minute later, I can feel the bladder spasms.
I went a whole year of no symptoms after a particularly bad 6-month flare-up. But a few months ago, I started to feel the irritation again. I really didn’t want to experience something like the last flare-up so I started googling and came across Desert Harvest.
I’ve been using Aloe Vera and Quercetin for about 3 weeks now. I take 2 of each in the morning and one aloe before bed. I know that’s not the recommended dose but I’m very petite so wanted to start on a lower dose and work up if necessary.
During the daytime I’m now symptom-free. No pain or burning, no urgency. In fact it feels like my bladder capacity is back to what it used to be which is amazing. Weirdly even my urine flow has improved. When I wake up in the morning, I feel a slight bit of irritation but it’s nothing really and it pretty much disappears instantly on taking my morning dose.

I have suffered with Interstitial Cystitis since 2012, and was so seriously ill with it until 2016 that I eventually had to be hospitalized for the consequent dependency I developed to opiate painkillers. I tried all the treatments, including bladder instills and medications that made my hair fall out and my bowel bleed. It was the worst time in my life.
After I came off all the strong painkillers the IC became more cyclical than constant. I discovered DH Aloe Vera around this time, 3 or 4 years ago. It has transformed my ability to manage these flares, which now happen only a couple of times a year and are much less severe.
I take a maintenance dose of DH Aloe daily and when I start to notice increased urgency/frequency/discomfort, I double the dose immediately. This works for me. It is the ONLY product I swear by. I take a number of other supplements which I believe all help, and follow a sensible low acid / low caffeine diet, but DH Aloe Vera is the product which allows me now to live a pretty normal life and for my IC to be a frustration rather than a disability. I truly could not live without it.

I was desperate about two years ago to find a solution for my urinary frequency and urethra burning. After visiting a urologist who placed me on OAB meds that didn’t work, I found through research about your aloe capsules. The first time I took them, I felt some relief. By three months, I was in excellent condition. I also wanted to let you know that I have been flaring more frequently (probably due to my hormones as I am close to menopause) and taking my usual three capsules and then follow with six capsules usual stops the flare within two hours tops. I will never be without your product. They have even helped my daughter when she had bladder spasms due to constipation and hormones. I couldn’t help but send one to Desert Harvest, after all without your Aloe Vera capsules I do believe I would be unable to write this letter.
About 10 years ago I started having issues with my bladder and voiding a lot of blood.
It became so painful that I could not get out of bed and when I did it would take me 30 minutes to walk 100ft.
I was in the US Marine Corps so I wasn’t going to let this undiagnosed problem keep me down. Until one day at work I went to the bathroom and unfortunately it was like someone turned on a water hose. Instead of water, it was blood and I quickly filled the urinal and then the toilet with blood. Needless to say I don’t remember much as I past put with so much blood loss.
When I woke up I was told that up to 75% of my bladder was cauterized and my bladder was only going to hold about 4-6 ounces and would never be able to stretch and hold more than that much liquid.
While I was in the hospital recovering my wife found Desert Harvest and ordered me 3 bottles. When I was released from the hospital with 4 prescriptions 3 taken more than once a day. I was not looking forward to the life ahead of me, the daily excruciating pain, the constant going to the bathroom.
It was taking a tole no sleep, constant pain, weekly hospital visits to clear blood clots.
I was about to give up When my wife asked if I would try one more thing, your aloe pills.
I started the next day and haven’t stopped since that was a year ago.
I no longer take any prescriptions and the improvement to my life has been nothing short of a miracle. I no longer have daily pain, I no longer have issues with blood clots and my bladder is beginning to actually stretch again. Currently it has more than double capacity at 10+ ounces and with continued treatments the Dr is actually talking about my bladder getting a lot of the normal elasticity back.
I literally was on deaths door twice from the lesions inside my bladder bleeding. As of my last Dr visit I no longer have lesions in my bladder, my bladder is not irritated and I have recaptured what it means to live again.

I was diagnosed with IC in May of this year. I had a hydrodistension in July alongside 7 or 8 other surgical procedures for other health ailments. I was a bit devastated when the diagnosis was confirmed as I had long awaited this surgery for other health problems and expected great improvements overall. I have preferred natural remedies and diet changes for my health ailments over the years, but surgery was unavoidable at this point. The IC went into a major flare from surgery and I was terrified I’d be unable to return to work. The prescription meds and diet were helping somewhat in the 1st month after surgery, but I continued to have burning, spasms and pain. I was diagnosed within the last year with IC. During that same timeframe I suffered a heart attack, had my right coronary artery replaced with a stent and placed on a blood thinner. A little over 3 years ago I thought I had a urinary tract infection. Long story short, I ended up being diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis and I was just 37. It has been a rough 3 years for me. I love spicy foods and I really love coffee and I pretty much had to give it all up. I spent lots of time researching products that could maybe help me. Eventually, I found Desert Harvest. I first ordered the Aloe Vera a few months ago but I didn’t realize there was a regimen for people with IC. So, I did one in the morning and one at night and it didn’t really help. (Here comes the really exciting part…)
I was cleaning my desk area a little over a week ago and I found your catalog and was flipping through it. That’s when I saw your recommended dosing for IC. I quickly ordered a new bottle so I could give it another try. Before it arrived, I took an over the counter UTI test. It showed me being dark purple which indicates white blood cells/inflammation, but negative for bacterial (that’s generally how it works for IC). I immediately started the Aloe Vera Capsules 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening. I could definitely tell a huge difference. Then, I received THE EMAIL from you about bladder awareness month and an IC Starter Kit. I was like, “what is that – there’s more?” I read about the Quercetin and it said something about how people with IC have twice as much histamine in their bladders. That’s when everything came full circle for me. When I was 18, I was diagnosed with chronic hives and took Claritin (an anti-histamine) until about 3 years ago. My hives had stopped and I thought why am I taking this? I think stopping the Claritin must have really impacted my bladder. I received the Quercetin last Saturday and took one dose that afternoon. I could not believe the results. I mean it was like I had my bladder back. In fact, I took another UTI test that night and can you believe that the Leukocytes came back negative?! Totally clear! I first started taking your product approximately 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. The relief was immediate. The first time I took the pills was also the first time I had been pain-free in years. I kept taking the aloe until approximately 2 years ago when I was able to go on a maintenance dose and then none at all.
Then it happened. A year ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and what they assume is rheumatoid arthritis. The pain and constantly bleeding had rendered me bedridden and unable to leave my home. My gastroenterologist prescribed Apriso, then Canasa, and finally steroids. The side effects were as bad as the disease. In a moment of desperation, I started researching alternative methods of dealing with my diseases. However, in my excitement, I learned I was taking the product incorrectly by only taking one or two capsules a day until a staff member recently explained the proper dosage. For someone with severe symptoms like me the proper dosage is three in the morning and three at night. I’m now receiving even more pain relief than before. The staff member explained their product acts as a carrier which expedites the freeze dried Aloe all the way through to the bladder where it eases the pain. I’m still taking my other prescription drugs and instillations but there is no doubt in my mind that this product has considerably lessened my IC pain. IC also causes inflammation of the bladder which in turn causes severe bloating. While taking the proper dose I noticed my stomach and bladder are considerably less bloated. Hallelujah! I’m so grateful I found this product and the proper way to take it. I just ordered two more bottles and they arrived in two days.

This is my first time to write a review. I found out about this product after going to about 6 different doctors. I was suffering from bladder pain and my quality of life was not good at all. I have been taking this Aloe Vera for more than 5 years for my IC/PBS. I was diagnosed with IC about 10 years ago but the awful and invasive things that could help didn’t appeal to me. I did take oxybutynin for several years and it did help the bladder spasms which was one of my main symptoms. It really dried me out and I already suffer from chronic dry eye disease. The aloe combined with taking collagen has been the combination that has really helped the most. Any time I have an irritated bladder that hurts I take 5-6 aloe pills and within an hour it has calmed down.
There is thought that IC is caused by leaky gut syndrome and the collagen helps heal that. I take about 3000mg of collagen a day and 6 or so aloe vera capsules. With this combination I find I can eat and drink most things. The one thing I have to stay away from that I love is yogurt. For whatever reason it really irritates my bladder.
I buy it once or twice a year on sale which helps with the price.

I have IC and have had a bladder distention and weekly installations of the bladder… neither of which did anything for the pain I was experiencing. I started taking Desert Harvest’s Freeze-Dried Aloe Vera approximately 3 years ago and it has saved me! I have zero pain the majority of the time taking 3 pills twice a day. It’s worth the money and I buy a year’s supply every June when it is on sale. Nothing else has worked like this. I still have urgency/frequency issues, although not as bad with the Aloe Vera, but the pain is what has pretty much entirely diminished. I have not changed my diet and drink a coffee every day. I have asked my doctor to “prescribe” it to me so that I can claim it under my Flex Plan health benefits at work, which will allow me to pay for them like a prescription pre-tax. I want to thank you for referring me to the Desert Harvest web site, as an alternative treatment for my Interstitial Cystisis. The Elmiron I had been using since my diagnosis in 2003 was beginning to cost me $6 / day (that’s after the insurance paid nearly that same amount). The Freeze-dried Aloe capsules from Desert Harvest are costing only $2 / day (with no insurance involvement).
My IC became a problem shortly before my retirement. My job consisted of 50% field work and 50% office work. As long as I was standing or walking about there was no problem. Once I sat down the pressure would build making me feel like I had to go to the bathroom.
The Elmiron eliminated this problem. When I read on the Desert Harvest website that it was presumed their Aloe product provided the same coating of the bladder that it was assumed the Elmiron did, then it was an obvious choice to give it a try.
About a week after starting the Desert Harvest product I slipped and twisted my good right knee (if you can remember me, I had Polio way back in 1950 and wear a full length leg brace on my left leg with that leg being atrophied; so I really depend on the strength of my better right leg). Consequently I spent the following week sitting in, and sleeping in, my LazyBoy recliner! Not once did I feel the agonizing pressure I remember experiencing prior to being diagnosed with IC and beginning my treatment with Elmiron. So, apparently for me, this Desert Harvest freeze-dried Aloe product is working successfully.

Aloe Vera has been like a miracle for me. I have suffered with IC for about 7 years. I tried many treatments including Elmiron, Neurotin, DMSO, and lidocaine self catheterization. These treatments didn’t give me any significant or long term relief from my pain. Approximately 3 years ago I decided to try Aloe Vera. My IC became very manageable rather quickly after the initiation of Aloe Vera. I took it along with my other meds for about 1 year. After 1 year of great relief of pain, I decided to gradually take myself off of all of the other treatments. I started using Desert Harvest Aloe many years ago for my IC and had great success. Around the same time I got diagnosed for IC , I found out I was Pre-diabetic. While I was on the Aloe… I was able to manage my blood sugar…not realizing it was the Aloe. I thought it was my diet alone. I decided to get off the Aloe because my IC symptoms were gone…but then I could not get my sugar under 100. Some days it was as high as 140. At first I didn’t realize it was the Aloe that was controlling it. I keep cutting down my carbs to under 50 a day and no luck getting my sugar level under 100. Then I realized that I was not taking the Aloe anymore! I order it right away … I take 12 capsules a day and along with a healthy diet…about 100 carbs a day… I am under 100 every morning! I’ve suffered with IC since the age of 10, now 61. The pain associated with IC has only increased with age. I previously worried everyday if I could manage through the day without a flare-up, which was almost impossible. I have been taking Desert Harvest Aloe for about 3 years now. I was VERY skeptical about trying this product because I had tried a lot of other natural products (even in combination) that did not work. When I first started taking the capsules, I did not take them consistently, so they did not work very well and I stopped taking them.
After reading so many of the testimonies, I decided to try it again, but this time I increased my dosage and took it 3 times a day consistently. I started out taking 9 capsules 3 times a day, then I went down to 6 capsules 2-3 times a day, and today I take 3 capsules 1 to 2 times a day.
When I was diagnosed with IC, the doctors tried to give me Elmiron, but I did not want to take it because I had read about the side effects, how long I may have to take it to see results, and that there was no guarantee it would work. So I found a doctor who prescribed Urelle. Urelle worked somewhat but then the doctor stopped the script because he said it was only a temporary solution. He said that the med wasn’t made for long-term use; never mind the fact that it ruined my underclothes because it made me pee bluish-green color. He wanted to perform a procedure that stretched my bladder to the point of breaking the nerves apart so I could no longer feel pain. To me this made no sense. Why would you want to stretch a bladder that is inflamed, then remove the nerves’ ability to let you know that something is wrong? Are you kidding me? No way. I would not allow the procedure. He then took me off Urelle and had no other med for me. I asked him what I was suppose to do for the pain? He said, “Take ibuprofen.” I thought I was going to die.
I began to search for a natural remedy. After almost a year and a half of my own research and trying natural herbs and supplements, I found Desert Harvest on the Internet. I was so desperate for relief. My life was a mess. I was in pain, I didn’t sleep well, my marriage was going downhill because of my medical problems, and I was suffering from deep depression. I don’t know how long I took the capsules before I began seeing results, but I quickly began to realize I was no longer in pain and that I could eat and drink things that I hadn’t been able to.
One thing I stay away from (even now) is Coke. I can drink other sodas, but for some reason, Coke will send me into a painful flair that lasts for days. And as I recall, it was Coke that I was drinking when I had my first symptoms of IC, so I avoid it.
But taking this Aloe has changed my life. I am now able to live like a normal person without being in pain and obsessing over what foods or drinks to avoid. I am so thankful to God for Desert Harvest and their Aloe product for giving me back my life. But I am still searching for the answers and for the cause of my inflammation. I don’t just want to cover up the problem for the rest of my life with a supplement. I want to find the source of my inflammation so that I may be free of pain without supplements.

My experience with IC and Desert Harvest would not make its way into a scientific journal. You couldn’t use it to sell the product to a skeptic. I did not isolate my variables. I tried many things unsuccessfully for a year before doing the following: Parsons (+kenalog) instills followed by ozone instillations (in Boulder), alkalizing my urine religiously using Calcium Citrate and Magnesium Citrate and Baking Soda, taking lots of Glucosamine/MSM, following an extremely strict diet, taking hydroxyzine 10 mg at night, and lastly Desert Harvest aloe.
I really turned a corner around when I added the Aloe pills (3 of them 3x a day, later I switched to 3 of them 2x a day). I literally woke up with burning, took 3 pills, and 4 hours later the burning was gone. (I had sex with no bladder pain!) My IC wasn’t severe (to me it was, but relatively speaking, no) I didn’t have Hunner’s Ulcers, but I had blood in my urine, burning, low capacity, and it often felt like an acid soaked cactus lived in my bladder. I was asking oncology surgeons to remove my bladder so I could have my life back.
I went from living on the toilet at night to waking up once with 12-16 oz of pee in my bladder. There is something to Aloe – I read about someone who had Hunner’s Ulcers healing their bladder by drinking the juice. In IC, the GAG (glycosaminoglycan) layer is compromised and needs replacing. I believe the mucopolysaccharides (mucus sugars) in Aloe are a healthy substitute. I can’t prove this, and no one will ever do a study because you can’t patent this stuff, therefore no profit incentive.
My urologist thinks Desert Harvest is BS because their sample sizes are small, but who here wouldn’t take this natural, 0-side effect stuff over Elmiron? She at least acknowledged the bladder’s capacity to recover from IC. I actually tried DHA shortly after my diagnosis before I figured out alkalizing. I think that is essential. My only fear is that Desert Harvest goes out of business one day. I am tempted to hoard a lifetime supply of the stuff.
